Hot Glass Sculpting
May 20 - 24, 2024 (5-day)
In this course we will explore techniques involving both mindset and skillset in the glass studio. Sculptural demonstrations and discussions on the finer things will ensue. With solid and blown methods as the primary focus, there will be a heavy emphasis on figurative composition, color application, detail work, making components , and teamwork for assembly.
Character building practices involving narrative and design will be enhanced starting from sketchbook to blowpipe. The goal is to learn the skills and understand the process in a personal way, enabling the glass blowing approach to be the fun part. We will learn not just how to achieve your vision but also why. Bring a sketchbook and an open mind for a new glass adventure.
This class meets from 9am to 5pm each day, Monday through Friday, with additional studio time Monday through Thursday, from 5pm to 9pm. Materials for participating in the course are included. If you have specific colors you are interested in working with please bring them with you.

Additional Information
- Participation limited to students 18 years of age and up.
- Lunch is available for an additional fee; $100 for 5-day workshops.
- Classes meet 9 am to 5 pm each day. Students will have additional practice time the first four evenings of the course, Monday through Thursday, from 5 pm to 9 pm.
- Materials for participating in the course are included. If you have specific colors you are interested in working with please bring them with you.
- Any work from the final day of the course remaining in a kiln will be available for pick up beginning the following Monday. Students may have finished worked shipped for an additional fee.
